According to a study, the 1st round generated 4.3 million messages sent on social media, that is 8% more than in 2017. The peak of activity recorded 280 posts per second as the results were announced, 45% more than in the first round of the elections in 2017.
It is also interesting to note that the networks accurately reflected the French people’s key political opinions. 1.6M posts were published about Emmanuel Macron (top of publications) and 1M posts about Marine Le Pen. The subject of abstention also takes a significative place in the “digital debate”. There were 134K posts #JeVote (I vote) compared to 14K #JeNeVotePas (I don’t vote).
