Maybe you’ve heard of the supermodel Shudu, the influencer Lu do Magalu or even Miquela, who together have accumulated more than 8 million followers on Instagram. What do they have in common? They are all virtual personalities.

This year, Kami joined the club of virtual avatars and has brought a wind of change: Kami has Down Syndrome. This new influencer was created by compiling 100 portraits of young women from all over the world, all with Down Syndrome.

Kami is the first public personality with Down Syndrome. By contrast, until now, virtual influencers were often models of perfection, who continue to reflect conventional physical standards.

This project shows that social causes are perhaps more visible when they’re
personified but also digitalized.
