On Monday 2nd May, the American media outlet Politico leaked a Supreme Court draft ruling to overturn the landmark 1973 Roe vs Wade decision that recognized abortion rights in all states. This initial draft, dated the 10th February will be subject to debate until it is officially published, probably
before the 30th June. If the ruling goes through, it will allow each US state to decide on their own legislation in terms of abortion, notably whether to restrict or even ban it.
This dissemination of conservatism within the Supreme Court was particularly enabled by the former president, Donald Trump, who appointed the judges Neil M. Gorsuch in 2017, Brett Kavanaugh in 2018 and Amy Coney Barrett in 2020, thus giving a large conservative majority to the top judicial bench.
